The Society was founded in 1976 and is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies and is also a registered charity. It now has a membership of around 875 members, mainly from the UK but also many from overseas. If you have an interest in tracing your family beginnings come and pay us a visit. We can give help and assistance if you want to how to start, if you are stuck or would just like a chat.
Meetings are held in Northampton on the third Monday in the month at 7:30 pm. Most of the meetings will feature a guest speaker from the world of Family History and Genealogy.
Sept 18th - NFHS AGM followed by a talk by our President Dr Colin Chapman ( Social & Nibbles to follow)
Oct 16th "The Broken Branch" - how name changes affect your research. A talk by Ian Waller
Nov. 20th " A Curate for the Church of the Holy Sepulchre" Speaker - Ian Gordon Brodie.
December - No Meeting.
If you live out of town then other monthly meetings are held at Kettering, Rushden and Oundle all with a schedule of speakers. See NFHS website (www.northants-fhs.org) for details of these.
A monthly surgery is held at the Northamptonshire Record Office at Wootton Hall Park, Mereway, Northampton on the first Saturday of the Month. Members will be available to help with queries, help with finding records etc.
