The Society was founded in 1976 and is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies and is also a registered charity. It now has a membership of around 875 members, mainly from the UK but also many from overseas. If you have an interest in tracing your family beginnings come and pay us a visit. We can give help and assistance if you want to how to start, if you are stuck or would just like a chat.
Meetings are held in Northampton on the third Monday in the month at 7:30 pm. Most of the meetings will feature a guest speaker from the world of Family History and Genealogy.

Jan 28th - "The Fateful Occurrences", Members Death Certs, Obituaries Etc.(Note this is the 4th Monday of the month)
Feb 18th - The Parish Chest & the Treasures within - Angela Malin
March 18th - Newspapers & Periodicals in your Family History - Dr Colin Chapman
April 15th - Old Handwriting. How to deal with old handwriting - Ian Waller
May 20th - 1950's Food & the Housewife - Eve Bacon
If you live out of town then other monthly meetings are held at Kettering, Rushden and Oundle all with a schedule of speakers. See NFHS website (www.northants-fhs.org) for details of these.
A monthly surgery is held at the Northamptonshire Record Office at Wootton Hall Park, Mereway, Northampton on the first Saturday of the Month. Members will be available to help with queries, help with finding records etc.
